A POWERFUL TOOL THAT CONTRIBUTES TO A PROFESSIONAL'S IMAGE IN AN EASY AND CONVIENT WAY FOR THE BUSY PROFESSIONAL IS THE ON-SITE HEADSHOT.
Making a positive first impression matters more than ever. A well-crafted headshot is often the first point of contact between you and your audience. It serves as a visual representation of your personal brand, reflecting your values, expertise, and personality. A professional headshot conveys that you are approachable, friendly, and someone others feel safe starting a business relationship with.
An on-site headshot provides an opportunity to showcase your unique identity and professional style. Today your professional image is not limited to physical interactions. Your headshot will be displayed on various online platforms such as LinkedIn, zoom meetings, company websites, and social media profiles. Having a consistent and high-quality headshot across these platforms ensures a cohesive and professional online presence, reinforcing your personal brand and strengthening your credibility. Likewise, a well-crafted headshot has the power to establish a personal connection with your audience. When people see a genuine and approachable image, it creates a sense of familiarity and trust. This can lead to increased engagement, networking opportunities, and ultimately, business growth. A professional headshot helps you connect with your audience on a deeper level and facilitates meaningful relationships.
GREY BACKDROP CHOICES
Solid Grey is one of my favorite backdrops for portraits, it’s fantastic for all skin tones and pops YOU in your portrait!
I can light it in a variety of ways to tone it to your preference. Which Grey is the best for your brand?
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE: MODERN HEADSHOTS & BRANDING HEADSHOTS
MODERN HEADSHOTS
My professional headshot style is the Modern Headshot which is a head and shoulders business portrait with clean simple lines and a bright face forward aesthetic. The background and clothing should not detract from the focus- you! So I suggest neutral colors and pose you and direct your headshot in a way that takes the worry and guesswork off your shoulders. You definitely do not need to worry about what you will do with your hands! The result is a high-end polished and professional headshot that establishes credibility and instills trust in your audience. When clients, colleagues, or potential employers see a professional headshot, it signals that you take your work seriously and are dedicated to presenting yourself in the best possible light. It creates an immediate sense of professionalism, competence, and reliability. These headshots can be taken in my studio space or on-site at your workspace.
BRANDING HEADSHOTS
Your personal brand is what sets you apart from others in your field. These headshots can be taken in the comfort of your work environment- whatever that looks like from a home office, to a shared studio space, to a corporate building or garden. By carefully selecting the location, props, and attire that align with your brand and industry, you can craft a headshot that reflects your individuality and makes a memorable impression. Where you do your work is the best place to illustrate to a client what you will be doing for them, however, because in most cases you ARE your brand and brand recognition is everything, a branding headshot can look like a 3/4 or full-length professional, yet more relaxed business portrait too. With a branding headshot by a trusted and experienced photographer like myself, Anjeanette Photography Phoenix Headshot Pro, your headshot can make a significant impact on how you are perceived by others. And as an on-site headshot provider, it is even convenient for your business as well.
WHAT TO WEAR
When selecting a neutral outfit for headshot portraits, it's important to choose clothing that won't distract from your face and will create a timeless and professional look. Here are some suggestions:
Solid-colored tops: Opt for solid colors such as white, black, gray, navy blue, or beige. These colors are classic and versatile, and they won't clash with the background or draw attention away from your face.
Simple patterns: If you prefer patterns, choose ones that are subtle and not overly busy. However, avoid fine pinstripes or small-scale checkered patterns as they can cause an optical illusion effect called moíre that is distracting and expensive to retouch.
Avoid bright colors -or DON’T: While neutral colors are recommended, you can also choose muted or pastel shades. While, it's generally best to avoid extremely bright or neon colors, as they can reflect onto your skin and create unwanted color casts, that can depend on your skin tone. Most fair-toned skins do not look great in bright colors, while dark tones look great but the are exceptions to every rule! Wear something you feel good in. Try it out at home first and pay attention to your chin and eye sockets to see what you think. And when in doubt- bring it and we can check it out together in person at your session.
Collared shirts and blouses: A collared shirt or blouse can give a polished and professional appearance. Consider button-down shirts, classic blouses, or shirts with a simple neckline.
Avoid bold logos or graphics: Avoid clothing with large logos, or prominent graphics as they can distract from your face and become outdated quickly unless it is your company logo.
Pay attention to fit and comfort: Choose clothing that fits you well and makes you feel comfortable. Well-fitted clothes can enhance your appearance and make you look more put together.
Don’t worry about shoes for Modern Headshots, but be mindful of them for Branding portraits. And guys don’t forget the belt if you would like a 3/4 business portrait!
Remember, the main focus of a headshot portrait is your face, so select an outfit that complements your features without overshadowing them.

Rest assured I will pose you and take the worry and guesswork out of what to do! I always say getting a portrait made is vulnerable. I am here to take away that stress and will direct you in the most flattering ways.
I do ask you to trust me as I have been posing people for headshots for 15 years, and while it may feel strange or unlike you are used to posing for selfies or in group photos, I know what will look great. I get a lot of initial comments “like no I can’t do that I never stand that way for pictures” but think about it- it is absolutely in my best interest to make you look amazing right? I won’t steer you in the wrong direction. And a great headshot is not an everyday picture- it needs to be poised to convey you in a way that is anything but ordinary and stands apart with distinction.
